- The traditional assessment of the economic efficiency of open-pit coal mining does not take into account the loss of the territory’s ecosystem services.
- The estimated economic value of ecosystem services are as follows (in ‘000 rubles/ha/year): 30 for meadows, 52 for surface water bodies, 133 for agricultural lands, 186 for forests territories, and 405 for floodplain areas.
- The economic assessment of ecosystem services (in physical and monetary terms) is most relevant for the economic and geographical analysis and the management of the areas of excessive mineral resources use.
